Identity Provider discovery made easy!!

DiscoverMe is a Web 2.0 ASP.NET application that enables Shibboleth (or SAML) Service Provider websites and applications to implement the Identity Provider discovery function. As a result, Shibboleth or SAML Service Provider website can now find user’s Identity Provider in a user friendly fashion. DiscoverMe can be installed on the same machine as the Service Provider or on a dedicated machine on the network and shared by multiple Service Provider applications. DiscoverMe is open standards based and implements the OASIS Identity Provider Discovery Service Protocol and Profile.

The functionality of DiscoverMe is commonly referred to as the “Where are You From” service. DiscoverMe provides a full view or a customized view of Identity Providers and Identity Federations based on the Service Provider it is referenced from. Thus DiscoverMe is able to provide users with a seamless customized experience.

As shown in the diagram above, DiscoverMe enables users to select their home Identity Provider organization for authentication purposes. Once the user chooses their home organization, they are redirected back to their home Identity Provider server for authentication. After successful authentication, the user is re-directed back to the Shibboleth (or SAML) Service Provider protected application server for access.

DiscoverMe is a native ASP.NET application that can be easily deployed on any Windows server using a point and click installer. Once installed, DiscoverMe can then be configured with a wide variety of flexible configurations.
