ActiveShareFS 2007 (or ActiveShare Federation Service 2007 or ASFS 2007) is an Open Source software product that enables federated access to Microsoft SharePoint 2007 server. ActiveShareFS 2007 provisions users from remote trusted collaborating institutions automatically based on configured business rules. As a result, only trusted users from trusted partner organizations are given appropriate level of access to secure parts of the SharePoint site. ActiveShareFS 2007 is an ASP.NET compliant software and works with your existing SharePoint 2007 server that is protected using Shibboleth (or SAML) service provider.

ActiveShareFS 2007 is widely deployed in higher education, government, healthcare and commercial markets today thereby helping customers achieve maximum returns from their SharePoint investment.

ActiveShareFS 2007 uses Shibboleth as a custom provider for authentication and provides access control to SharePoint based on user attributes such as Roles, Usernames, Entitlements and other SAML attributes.
Trusted users from a remote Shibboleth or SAML Identity Providers are automatically created into SharePoint 2007 server based on business rules configured at the SharePoint site. Any of the Shibboleth or SAML attributes can be mapped into Sharepoint 2007 attributes including such information as username, full name, role, affiliation etc. This configuration does not require the use of a Microsoft Active Directory backend.

Our ActiveShareFS 2007 enabled federated SSO solution works across heterogeneous platforms. It works seamlessly with remote SAML standard compliant Identity Provider Servers that are deployed on either Windows or Linux/Unix platforms.
